

The Tulsa Police Department Air Support Unit consists of two helicopters.
The Unit has four members who fly in support of field units. The helicopter can be used day and night by utilizing the Forward Looking Infra-Red (FLIR) camera mounted at the front of the aircraft

The Night sun spotlight used by Air Support is capable of producing 30 million candlepower of light. This light is used during search and rescue operations and to provide a broad area of illumination for officers on the ground. |
This is a photograph of a car taken by the helicopter mounted FLIR or Forward Looking InfraRed camera during a pursuit. The camera works by highlighting the temperature differences of various objects. It can be used to see vehicles and people at night. |
