The Tulsa Police Department has received word that one of it's own, Officer Jared Shoemaker, was killed Monday, September 4th, 2006 in Iraq.

Jared was hired January 3, 2005, and following his training, served as a Patrol Officer at Uniform Division North until activated by the United States Marine Corp in December of 2005.

Our deepest condolences are with the family and friends of Officer Shoemaker. Chief of Police David Been stated, "Being a Police Officer was Jared's lifelong dream. He served the City with distinction and made the ultimate sacrifice for his country. He will be sorely missed."
