Officers Actions Save a Life

While on patrol, Officer Kite was near 31st and Mingo Road when
he noticed a thick cloud of smoke coming from the neighborhood to
the west. Officer Kite immediately began to drive the area
when he discovered a house at 9515 E. 34th Street on fire.
Officer Kite notified dispatch to request the Tulsa Fire
Department. Officer Kite then began knocking on the door of
alert the occupants. He made contact with one of the females
inside the house who was able to exit the home, but her 81 year old
mother, could not get out of the house. Officer Kite entered the
house, which was full of smoke and attempted to get Ms. Peters
out. Officers Anderson and Hewitt arrived and also entered
the house. The front of the house was fully engulfed and the
inside of the house was full of smoke. Ms. Peters could not
get up or walk out of the house. The three officers carried Ms.
Peters from the house. District Fire Chief, Jim Long, stated
that the actions of the three officers likely saved Ms. Peters
life.
