More Cops. More Stops.
ARCHIVED PRESS RELEASE: Published 7-25-2012
The Tulsa Police
Department is teaming with law enforcement agencies across the
state between July 27th and August 5th to
crack down on traffic safety violations.
State and local law enforcement will be out in force to remind
all drivers and passengers to never drink and drive, always buckle
up, obey the speed limit, and eliminate all distractions in the
vehicle while driving. Nearly 500 passenger vehicle occupants
were killed in Oklahoma highway crashes in 2010. Sixty
percent were NOT wearing their seatbelts. 33 percent of
Oklahoma fatalities in motor vehicle traffic crashes involved an
alcohol-impaired driver and 28 percent were speeding.
This special enforcement crackdown is part of the state's new
More Cops. More Stops. campaign
to help save more lives on Oklahoma's roadways.
