"The First 48" Begins Filming Homicide Detectives

ARCHIVED PRESS RELEASE: Published 7-10-2014

The cameras will capture our homicide investigators working during the hours immediately following a murder. The show will provide an inside look into real-life murder investigations, the personalities of the detectives and the deep heartbreak of the families.

"The First 48" crews will stay with the investigators for the duration of the investigation. Residents who are near a homicide scene will be asked whether they agree to be filmed and no resident will be filmed who does not wish to be.

Chief Jordan said, "The show will bring positive exposure by demonstrating the detectives' tireless dedication to solve the case and the compassion they have for the families involved."

Episodes featuring our Homicide Unit will most likely begin airing late this fall. The city's agreement with the show has a one-year duration.
