
CHIEF'S SECTION
DIVISION LEADERSHIP
The Chief’s Section of the Tulsa Police Department is located on the 3rd floor of the headquarters building in downtown Tulsa at 600 Civic Center.
The Chief’s Section includes Internal Affairs, Communications Unit, and the Director of Policy, Planning, and Quality Control.

COMMUNICATIONS UNIT
The Tulsa Police Communications Unit handles all internal and external communications for the department, including managing an online media portal and social media pages through various channels.
The unit consists of a Captain, one Public Information Officer. a Media Relations Specialist and a Website Developer.

The Communications Unit is responsible for photographing and capturing video of all department-related events, including graduations, community appearances, and new Officer photos.
The Communications Unit also is responsible for archiving data and completing the Annual report.

INTERNAL AFFAIRS
With a goal of upholding public trust in the Tulsa Police Department and ensuring continued confidence in our organization, the Internal Affairs Unit performs many key functions.
The Internal Affairs Unit consists of a 5 Lieutenants, 1 Sergeant and the IA Commander, who reports directly to the Chief of Police.

CALEA
The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement
Agencies (CALEA) is a National, Nonpartisan, and Independent 501©(3) Organization. CALEA was created in 1979 as a credentialing authority through the joint efforts of law enforcement’s major executive associations; Police Executive Research Forum (PERF), the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), and the National Sheriffs’ Association (NSA).
CALEA advances policing through innovation and science using standards to promote efficient resource allocation, best practices, technical advancement, and evidence-based strategies.
