Tulsa Police Chief Jonathan Brooks
Jonathan Brooks was selected as the 42nd Chief of the Tulsa Police Department by Mayor Monroe Nichols IV on August 23, 2026.
Jonathan Brooks serves as Chief of Police for the Tulsa Police Department, bringing nearly three decades of law enforcement experience, including more than a decade as a Deputy Chief. His career has focused on public safety, organizational leadership, officer wellness, innovation, and community partnerships.
Brooks has pursued graduate-level education in communications, adult education, forensic crime and intelligence analysis, and is a doctoral candidate with a strong emphasis on research and evidence-based policing. He has served on several boards and commissions, including the International Association of Chiefs of Police Research Advisory Committee, working with academic institutions and national experts to advance policing practices.
As Chief, Brooks is focused on supporting the workforce, strengthening community trust, and ensuring Tulsa remains a safe, healthy, and thriving
city.
