MY STORY

Wendell Franklin was appointed February 1, 2020, becoming the 40th Chief of Police for the Tulsa Police Department.

 

Prior to his appointment as the Chief of Police, Franklin served the Tulsa Police Department as a Major in the Headquarters Division. Before that, he served as a Major for both the Gilcrease and Riverside Patrol Divisions.

 

Franklin grew up in Tulsa, attending Tulsa Public Schools and graduating from the prestigious Booker T. Washington High School. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree from Langston University.

 

Having graduated from the Police Executive Research Forum’s Senior Management Institute for Police in 2015, Wendell continued his professional education and graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy in 2016.

 

He is also a certified instructor for law enforcement organizations across the State of Oklahoma.
