In August, Officers with the Tulsa Police Department responded to two house parties at short-term rentals where multiple guns, including some stolen, were recovered, and several arrests were made.

The first incident occurred on August 3rd, 2025, around 12:30 a.m., when Officers were notified of an Airbnb party at a residence near 1600 S. Lewis Ave.

When Officers arrived, they saw dozens of individuals outside of the party, many of whom began running toward cars. The owner of the Airbnb arrived and wanted the house cleared, as the renters had dozens of people on the property and were violating Airbnb and city codes.

In total, Officers recovered seven firearms, including three semi-automatic pistols and a short-barrel rifle with the serial number removed. Officers arrested several individuals.

The second incident occurred on August 30th, 2025, around 11:00 p.m., when Officers responded to an Airbnb house party at a home near 5000 S. 29th W. Ave.

The owner of this rental also responded and wanted the occupants removed for breaking Airbnb and city policy.

Officers shut down the party, and Patrol Officers stopped several vehicles that tried to leave the area at the time.

In total, six guns were recovered, and arrests were made for outstanding felony warrants, possession of a stolen gun, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Earlier this summer, the Tulsa Police Department produced a video with a reminder of the licensing requirements and guidelines for short-term rental (STR) owners under Title 21, Chapter 26.

Under this code, STR owners and operators must prevent nuisance behavior, STRs cannot exceed the maximum occupancy of eight people at one time, and a local contact person must be available 24/7.
