The Tulsa Police Department is welcoming anyone to come out and celebrate National Faith & Blue Weekend Oct. 6-8.
Faith & Blue started in 2020 to facilitate safer, stronger and more just and unified communities by directly enabling local partnerships among law enforcement professionals, residents, businesses and community groups through the connections of local faith-based organizations.
TPD's Gilcrease Division is partnering with Timothy Baptist Church for the free event. The department will host a community roundtable discussion about policing and a "Trunk or Treat" event in the parking lot at the same time.
This year's event will run 1 p.m.-3 p.m. at Tulsa Community College Northeast, 3727 E. Apache St.
The Mingo Valley Division is also participating in events for the weekend. Oct. 6-7 they'll be out at GSL Church, 9897 E. 11th St. first for a free outdoor concert Friday then free food, a car show, viewing police vehicles, games, a bounce house and more on Saturday.
The Friday event is 7 p.m.-9 p.m. while the Saturday event is 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
The initiative aims to recalibrate police-community relations through solutions-focused, in-person, socially distanced and/or virtual activities that are organized jointly by faith-based or other community groups and law enforcement agencies.
