June 2025 Newsletter

Welcome to the Tulsa Police Department's monthly newsletter! Let's take a look back at what was a busy month of June as we get set for a July full of community engagement and great police work.

Women in Policing

We had a great turnout early in the month with nearly 30 participants at our Women in Policing event at the Tulsa Police Training Division!

The event featured presentations on defensive tactics, the Special Operations Team, and Tulsa Police Specialty Units, along with an overview of the hiring process and requirements for the department.

This is an event we host every year -- and sometimes more than once. If you missed this one, stay tuned for the next.

National and Regional K-9 Detector Dog Trials

In early June, the Tulsa Police Department hosted the 2025 Regional and National K-9 Detector Dog Trials!

We'd like to recognize the Officers who received awards:

Regional Trials:

  • Officer Kite and K-9 Niko placed 2nd in the Patrol Dog Division

  • Officer Johnson and K-9 Jugger placed 2nd place in the Narcotics Division

National Trials:

  • Officer Johnson with K-9 Jugger and Officer Houck with K-9 Knox placed third in the National Trial Team Event

911 Dispatcher Graduation

Please join us in congratulating our six newest 911 Dispatchers who graduated from the academy this month!

Congratulations to Alex, Anna, Mackenzie, Marco, Sara, and Thomas! The class spent six weeks going through an extensive Public Safety Center academy, learning everything from Tulsa geography to call types, interviewing skills, and 10-codes!

Hasty Bake GrillFest

We had a great time at the 2025 Hasty Bake GrillFest, hosted by Hasty Bake Charcoal Grills at the University of Tulsa!

As always, we saw a huge turnout at the event! Kids and families got the chance to meet with Patrol Officers and Recruitment Officers, take home some Tulsa Police swag, and check out some of our vehicles! Firefighters with the Tulsa Fire Department and Paramedics with EMSA were also at the event.

Gilcrease Division

With multiple events each week, Officers from the Gilcrease Division made some awesome connections with the community during the month of June. A new event for us was “Popsicles with Police” at Mohawk Manor. Officers were greeted by kids and families, and had the opportunity to share hugs, laughs, and good conversation over a frozen treat. Green apple was the crowd favorite.

The heat is here, and as the events calendar gets booked out through the summer, we want to say thank you to the Officers who take time out of their day to come out to these events with us – it makes a difference!

Mingo Valley Division

We kicked off the month with another fun Coloring with a Cop event at McDonald’s. There’s just something about crayons and chicken nuggets that brings people together!

We also went inside Woodland Hills Mall for their Summertime Stories series, giving kids a chance to meet Officers, listen to Lt. Bryden read a storybook, grab some safety tips and do a little bit of arts and crafts to stay cool. But we didn’t stop there!

Throughout the month, our officers visited several summer camps and schools, talking all things summer safety and giving kids an up-close look at police vehicles during our Touch-a-Truck visits. Questions ranged from “What's your favorite part of being a police officer?” to “Do you really love donuts?”

We closed out the month with a few more summer camp visits and a Car Wash with a Cop, because nothing says summer like shiny cars, smiles, and community fun! Stay cool, stay safe, and we’ll see you out and about in July at the annual Briarwood Fourth of July Parade!

Riverside Division

One of the biggest events Riverside Officers attended in June was a summer camp at Memorial High School, hosted by Tulsa Public Schools.

This was a multi-unit effort, with Officers from Patrol, Motors, Air Support, and SOT. Officers showed off their patrol vehicles, motorcycles, the helicopter, and a variety of equipment. It was an enriching experience for nearly 100 kids attending the camp.

It's always great to connect with some of the youngest members of our community and maybe even inspire a few future Officers along the way!

Arrest made in 2018 homicide

On November 12th, 2018, around 1:00 p.m., Officers responded to the Candlewood Suites near 71st and Highway 169.

A hotel employee called 911, saying they found a man unresponsive in a vehicle in the parking lot. When Officers arrived, they found Alfred Seymore inside the vehicle with a single gunshot wound to the head. Seymore died several days later, on November 15.

Video from the hotel showed two men get inside the vehicle with the victim, then later get out. Shortly after that, one of the individuals fired a gun into the vehicle and then fled.

At the time of the shooting, we had evidence from the victim's phone linking the incident to the suspect, Kristopher Thompson. However, there was insufficient evidence to arrest Thompson for the homicide at that moment.

Despite not being able to arrest Thompson initially, our Homicide Unit continued to pursue the case.

Through a consistent effort of interviewing witnesses, examining evidence, and collaborating with our federal partners, we were able to build a case that implicated Thompson in the shooting.

On June 16th, 2025, an arrest warrant for Felony Murder was obtained for Kristopher Thompson.

Around 5:00 p.m., the Tulsa Police Fugitive Warrants Unit took Thompson into custody at his mother's home in Broken Arrow.
