Special Olympics Oklahoma kicked off its 2026 fundraising campaign on Thursday with the Law Enforcement Torch Run Luncheon at Tulsa Tech's Lemley Memorial Campus.
The LETR benefits Special Olympics Oklahoma. The Torch Run is an actual running event in which Officers and athletes run with the "Flame of Hope" to the Opening Ceremonies of local, state, and national Special Olympics games.
The luncheon on Thursday celebrated the success of previous years and geared up for the next year of fundraising.
Approximately 175 Officers from across Oklahoma attended the luncheon including Chief Dennis Larsen. The Tulsa Police Department received the Champion Award for funds raised in 2025, and the Tulsa Fraternal Order of Police received a plaque for continuous sponsorship through the years.
Officer Metcalf spoke at the event today, and throughout the year, he takes a very active role in the Tip-A-Cop events, the Polar Plunge, and other fundraising efforts that benefit the program.
In 2025, the LETR raised more than $618,000 -- and they're hoping to top that this year!
