Longtime Tulsa Police volunteer passes away

We'd like to take a few minutes to honor the life of David Combes, a longtime member of the Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) program.

David Combes started his VIPS career in the Fall of 2010. During his tenure, he's volunteered thousands of hours of time helping out his brothers and sisters of the Tulsa Police Department.

David started his VIPS service working in the Detective Division for the Burglary Unit entering pawn tickets and doing case management.

David later worked for the Training Division, capturing photographs and video of numerous academy classes.

At the Riverside Division, David spent years volunteering at the annual Halloween Event.

David Combes was known by many members of the Tulsa Police Department for always being reliable, helpful, and ready to assist in any way possible to get the job done.

For his years of service, Chief Wendell Franklin presented David with the Chief's Award last month.

Mayor GT Bynum issued a proclamation declaring January 25th "David Combes Day" in the City of Tulsa.

David Combes passed away on February 4th, 2024.

For his years of service and dedication to the Tulsa Police Department, we are forever grateful.
