The Tulsa Police Homicide Unit is investigating a collision that left a man dead in a local neighborhood.


Tulsa police officers responded to an auto-pedestrian collision call near Pine and N Yorktown around 5:15 p.m. The victim, 26-year-old Mitchell Jefferson, was taken to the hospital with severe injuries where he later died.


Through the investigation, officers learned Jefferson was inside the car for some kind of transaction and when he tried to get out, the driver sped up and ran him over.


Witnesses said the driver's actions appeared to be intentional, prompting a homicide investigation.
