Welcome to the Tulsa Police Department's monthly newsletter! October was an exciting month around the department, and we're excited to take that momentum into the holiday season.

Faith & Blue

Dozens of Tulsa Police Officers gathered earlier this month in East Tulsa at God's Shining Light Church to celebrate National Faith & Blue Weekend!

The annual gathering is an effort to strengthen the bonds between local law enforcement, churches, and the community. This year, we combined efforts and had Officers from all three patrol divisions, along with Chief Larsen and other command staff.

Academy Class 131 Graduation

This month, 16 new Tulsa Police Officers graduated from the Tulsa Police Academy. Mayor Monroe Nichols, Public Safety Commissioner Laurel Roberts, and Chief Dennis Larsen spoke at the graduation ceremony.

Law Enforcement Torch Run

Proud to share that members of the Tulsa Police Department recently attended the 2025 Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) International Conference in Minneapolis, MN!

Over 100,000 law enforcement volunteers worldwide raised $70,461,070 in 2024 alone for Special Olympics, bringing the total raised since LETR's inception to $1,139,597,747.

Spanish Citizens Police Academy

This month, we celebrated the first graduation of our Spanish Citizens Police Academy!

The class had 36 graduates who received a certificate, a photo with Chief Larsen, and a very special Chief's challenge coin! After graduation, both class attendants and Tulsa Police Officers sat together, shared a meal, and the Officers answered questions about policing.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Officers sported pink patches and badges this month to show support for the fighters, survivors, and their families in our community.

Year-round, 34-year veteran Officer Marnie Waller spends her shifts behind the wheel of our vibrant pink patrol SUV as a rolling tribute to those impacted by breast cancer.

Tulsa Native American Day

Earlier this month, our Officers got the chance to take part in the Tulsa Native American Day Parade and Festival Celebration in downtown Tulsa!

Officers with the Tulsa Police Motorcycle Unit led the parade, and Chief Larsen and other staff walked in the parade, along with some of our friends from the City of Tulsa, Tulsa Fire Department, and EMSA.

Gilcrease Division

October was a very busy month for us despite the rainy weather. The highlight for the Gilcrease Division was the Market District Spooktacular, hosted by the Market District Association.

Kids got to trick-or-treat at local businesses, play games at Mother Road Market, and visit with Tulsa Police Officers stationed right on the corner of 11th and Lewis. We passed out candy and dog tags, posed for pictures, and got to check out some really unique costumes.

We’ve made it through our busiest time of the year and are expecting things to slow down as winter approaches, but we do have a variety of events on the calendar next month, so we’ll see you then!

Mingo Valley Division

October was spookily busy for the Mingo Valley Division!

We kicked off the month at the Hardesty Library Trunk or Treat, spreading smiles, candy, and safety tips to families as they enjoyed some safe Halloween fun. Next, we joined Parkview Baptist Church for Fire Safety Week, where our friends from Air Support gave everyone an unforgettable surprise with a flyover!

Our biggest event of the year followed: Faith and Blue. This year marked the first-ever Unified Faith and Blue, as administrators from all three TPD divisions came together to host one collaborative event right here in the Mingo Valley Division. Officers from every division stopped by to volunteer, chat with community members, and celebrate unity and service.

Later in the month, we partnered with the Tulsa Health Department to help kick off Red Ribbon Week at Rosa Parks Elementary, cheering on students as they made the pledge to live a drug-free and healthy lifestyle.

As we head into November, we’re looking forward to catching our breath, enjoying some turkey, and preparing for the busy holiday season ahead.

Thank you to everyone at Mingo Valley for their efforts in helping to make Tulsa a stronger, safer community!

Riverside Division

This month, the Riverside Division got into the Halloween-season fun, despite some rainouts and classic Oklahoma weather at play.

We kicked off October with a key visit along with the Financial Crimes Unit with older members of the community, with a Coffee-With-A-Cop event at the Villages at Southern Hills assisted living center.

In the latter part of the month, things started ramping up with our participation in Faith & Blue Weekend and a block party in the Holiday Hills neighborhood. RID Officers capped off the month with a couple more fall gatherings to be in a great place entering November and the upcoming holiday season.

The Tulsa Police Mingo Valley Street Crimes Unit (SCU) is dedicated to proactive policing.

They spend their days targeting repeat offenders, solving complex cases, and fostering strong community ties through effective communication and increased visibility.
