The Tulsa Police Department is highlighting the work of its Community Response Team in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month.

The Community Response Team (CRT) is a multi-agency mental health call response unit focused on achieving the best possible outcomes for individuals in need.

The CRT is made up of a paramedic/EMT from the @Tulsa Fire Department, a Tulsa Police Officer, and a licensed mental health clinician from Community Outreach Psychiatric Emergency Services (COPES) through @Family & Children's Services.

This team is able to spend more time on mental health calls than patrol Officers or emergency medical services, which enables them to research the best possible options for treatment, care, and resources for individuals suffering from a mental health crisis.

As always, call 911 in an emergency. However, you can reach the Oklahoma Mental Health Lifeline at 988 to speak with trained behavioral health professionals or call COPES 24/7 at 918-744-4800.
