Tulsa Police Chief Dennis Larsen announced Monday that he plans to retire.
Larsen made the announcement to the department internally before releasing the information to the public.
“It has been an honor to serve the citizens of Tulsa for over 47 years and a privilege to lead our department for the past few," Larsen said.
"The time has come for me to focus on what’s next in my life: family, vacation time with my wife and grandchildren, and some new adventures. It has been the honor of my life to serve as your Chief.”
Chief Larsen’s retirement will be effective Thursday, October 1, 2026.
