On May 25th, 2025, around 10:00 p.m., officers responded to an injury collision between a pickup truck and a Ford Mustang at 300 S. Lewis Ave. Video from a nearby grocery store showed the pickup was headed northbound on Lewis and turning westbound onto 3rd Street when it collided with a Mustang traveling southbound on Lewis at a high rate of speed. During the impact, the engine of the Mustang burst into flames.
Responding Officers quickly arrived and pulled the driver and the passenger from the burning car before firefighters and paramedics arrived. Several citizens, who were in the area at the time of the crash, also jumped in to assist officers.
