A suspected serial burglar is in custody thanks to some help from the Tulsa Police Helicopter on Monday.
On September 29th, 2025, around 11:30 p.m., Officers responded to a business near 51st and Garnett for a call about a suspicious person.
The caller reported that a man was in the fenced-in area of the business, carrying a bag.
When the Officers arrived, they spotted the suspect wearing a bucket camo hat and a mask with a spider web design on it. Officers quickly saw a hole in the fence and suspect carrying a floor jack.
When the suspect, identified as Charles Huttenmaier, spotted the Officers, he took off running. Officers set up a perimeter and began tracking the suspect.
The Tulsa Police Helicopter arrived on the scene and spotted Huttenmaier attempting to hide on top of a train railcar nearby. Officers in the helicopter guided those on the ground to the suspect, and with the assistance of a K-9 unit, Huttenmaier was arrested. He was taken to the hospital, then booked into the Tulsa County Jail.
Through the investigation, Detectives determined Huttenmaier is also the suspect in a series of recent burglaries. In each of these cases, the suspect similarly broke into the businesses, stole similar items, and wore the same hat and spiderweb mask Huttenmaier had on at the time of his arrest:
September 19th, 12:30 a.m. -- the suspect busted out the glass doors at Lowe's on 71st and stole tools.
September 19th, 2:00 a.m. -- the suspect broke into AT&T a few blocks from the Lowe's, busted out a window, and stole iPads.
September 19th, 3:10 a.m. -- the suspect returns to the Lowe's and steals more tools.
September 22nd, 3:00 a.m. -- the suspect broke through a wall at Sutherland's on 21st and stole tools.
September 24th, 3:00 a.m. -- the suspect broke into Synturf Foreverlawn on 51st, tore a hole in the wall, and stole equipment and tools.
Officers recovered some of the stolen items in Huttenmaier's car, which was parked nearby at the time of the arrest.
In total, the suspect stole more than $35,000 in tools and equipment, excluding the damage done to the properties.
Charles Huttenmaier was arrested for:
7 counts of Wearing a Mask in Commission of a Felony, AFCF (After Former Conviction of a Felony)
Possession of Burglary Tools
6 counts of 2nd Degree Burglary AFCF
