Body camera video released to the media on Friday shows the moment Tulsa Police Officers ran through a downtown crowd to break up a fight involving two teenagers and a stolen gun.
On May 16, 2026, around 11 p.m., Tulsa Police Officers working downtown began working on dispersing the crowds from the streets near Greenwood and Archer following a Bike Rally.
The rally’s scheduled time ended, but thousands of people remained on the streets, causing safety hazards for drivers and curfew violations for those under 18 years old.
Body camera video shows Officers talking with patrons in the street before the crowd starts rushing away from a fight that had started just north of Archer.
Through the Officers’ training and experience at large events like this one, Officers knew this reaction often meant a firearm was pulled.
Officers quickly scanned the crowd and found a group of likely underage men punching and kicking another young man. Officers saw one of the boys clutching his waistband while fighting, suggesting he could be carrying a gun.
An Officer grabbed two of the young men involved in the fight, quickly gaining custody of one while fighting to control the one with a gun still tucked in his waistband. Eventually, Officers took the gun from him and placed him in handcuffs.
Later, it was discovered that the gun had been reported stolen.
A large crowd gathered around the Officers and the two suspects as additional Officers gave commands for the crowd to step back to give them space. One of the suspects, a 16-year-old, stood up but then quickly began suffering a medical incident.
The teen started to fall to the ground, and Officers took him out of handcuffs to begin checking on his condition. Due to the crowd's density, Officers were unable to call for paramedics to reach the location.
Officers picked the 16-year-old up and carried him nearly half a mile until they could be clear of the crowd to provide proper medical attention until paramedics arrived. The 16-year-old was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The other suspect, a 15-year-old boy, was taken to the Community Intervention Center and booked for Obstruction and curfew violations.
On May 19, 2026, the 16-year-old was released from the hospital and booked into the Community Intervention Center for:
Possession of a Firearm by a Minor
Possession of a Stolen Firearm
Resisting
